Region facts for procurement teams.
Middle Eastern Sultana cultivar. Fragrant, popular for ready-meals. Phase D will replace placeholder operational notes with approved source-backed copy.
A fragrant cultivar from northern Syria
Syrian Sultani is the Middle Eastern lineage of the Sultana family - genetically close to Turkish Sultaniye but adapted over generations to the drier continental climate of northern Syria. The leaves come from contract producers in the Idlib and Aleppo regions, where vineyard work is part of mixed-crop family agriculture.
The Sultani leaf carries a noticeably fragrant note that ready-meal manufacturers and catering operators have used in their recipes for decades. Some buyers specify Sultani specifically because their consumer base recognises this aroma in traditional dishes.
Sourcing approach
Syrian-origin sourcing requires deliberate contract structure. We work with established producer cooperatives, run pre-shipment quality control at the consolidation point, and ship through approved cross-border routes. Logistics lead times are typically longer than Türkiye-origin programs - factor an extra 7-10 days for routing.
For buyers who require a single sourcing region with no Syrian content, we recommend the Turkish Sultana or Tokat programs.
Harvest window and brining
The Sultani harvest runs April through early June depending on the altitude band. Standard wet-brine preservation; the brine concentration is set for shelf-stability across 18 months at ambient storage.

Frequently asked questions
Why source from Syria instead of Türkiye only?
Syrian Sultani carries a distinct aromatic profile that some recipes and consumer bases recognise. For buyers whose product specifications call out Sultani by name, the Syrian origin is the authentic reference.
How does the supply chain handle current regional logistics?
We work with established consolidation points, pre-shipment quality control, and approved routing. Lead times include routing margin; we communicate route status with each shipment.
Can I get a non-Syrian alternative with similar character?
Turkish Sultana (Sultaniye / Thompson Seedless) is the closest available alternative from a single-origin Türkiye program. The aromatic profile is different but the leaf character overlaps significantly.
