Conventional is the reference grade in vine leaves in brine. EU MRL compliant, ISO 9001 + ISO 22000 + ISO 14001 audited, and shipped in the same 10-180 Kg packaging formats as every other Tuna Sourcing programme. The grade is not a quality flag - it just means a buyer is not also paying for the additional residue testing or organic certification audits that pesticide-free and organic programmes carry.
When buyers pick conventional
Conventional is the default answer for most retail private-label, foodservice, and ready-meal programmes. The cost-per-kilo is the lowest of the three grades and the lead time is the shortest. If the destination retail brand has not specified a pesticide-free or organic positioning, the spec-compliant choice is conventional.
Common programmes that ship on conventional:
- Foodservice distribution and horeca
- Retail private-label where the brand has no residue-claim positioning
- Ready-meal manufacturers running the leaf as a wrap component in a cooked product
- Industrial dolma / sarma production for export
Grade specification
Quality parameters per batch are documented on the spec sheet on this page. Whole-leaf ratio, brown / spot tolerance, branch-stem tolerance, and appearance are stated as range targets and verified on a per-shipment Certificate of Analysis.
Five regional varieties are available on conventional: Turkish Sultana, Turkish Tokat, Syrian Sultani, Syrian Baladi, and Xinjiang Thompson Seedless. Origin choice shapes leaf size, tenderness, and lead time - see the variety comparison post for a side-by-side.
Lead time, MOQ, and incoterms
Conventional Turkiye-origin programmes are usually the fastest to schedule; Syrian-origin and Xinjiang-origin programmes need additional routing time. MOQ depends on packaging, destination, and whether the order is a trial shipment or a volume contract. FOB Mersin / FOB Izmir is the normal quoting basis; CFR and CIF are available on request.
The MOQ and lead-time post covers how lead times stack across origin, grade, and certification scope.
Documentation pack
Every shipment includes Certificate of Analysis per lot, Certificate of Origin, Phytosanitary Certificate, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, and Bill of Lading. ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and ISO 14001 certificate scans available on request; Halal-suitable and Kosher-suitable declarations on request; originals on contract.
