Pesticide-free is conventional vine leaves with one structural difference: every lot is tested on the EU MRL panel and the panel results must be below the laboratory limit of detection. The claim is about testing, not about pesticide-free farming. Buyers who write tenders should pin down what "pesticide-free" means before signing - we treat it as "residue below LOD on the EU MRL panel" and put the lab report into the document pack.
When buyers pick pesticide-free
Pesticide-free is the right answer for:
- EU retail private-label programmes where the brand has a residue-claim positioning but is not asking for organic certification scope
- Premium retail channels in markets where consumer concern about pesticides is elevated
- Ready-meal brands marketing on the "clean label" axis
- Foodservice or institutional buyers (hospital, school, defence) whose procurement spec requires documented residue testing per lot
For programmes where the destination retail brand has no residue claim, conventional is usually the right answer and pesticide-free is unnecessary cost.
What the testing actually covers
Two parameters matter in the tender:
- The test panel. The EU MRL panel covers a defined list of substances. Pesticides outside the panel are not tested. Specify the panel scope in the contract.
- The limit of detection. A 0.01 mg/kg LOD is sensitive; a 0.05 mg/kg LOD is less so. Specify the LOD threshold in the contract.
The pesticide-free explainer post goes deeper on what the test panel does and does not cover.
Grade specification
Quality parameters per batch are documented on the spec sheet on this page. The spec is similar to conventional with the additional residue testing layer. Five regional varieties are available on pesticide-free; origin and variety choice match the comparison post.
Lead time, MOQ, and incoterms
Pesticide-free Turkiye-origin programmes need additional time for residue testing compared with the conventional baseline. Syrian or Xinjiang origins add routing time. MOQ depends on packaging, destination, test scope, and whether the order is a trial shipment or a volume programme. FOB Mersin / FOB Izmir is the normal quoting basis.
Documentation pack
Every shipment includes the conventional document pack plus a third-party laboratory residue report for the specific lot. ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, and the residue lab accreditation document available on request; Halal-suitable and Kosher-suitable declarations on request.
